Closing Information

• The last resident to leave each room needs to inform their RA/HR of their departure time & date.

• You must leave 24 hours after your last exam.  If you are involved in Commencement exercises, your coordinator will need to submit names of students needing to stay to Brad Johnson, Sr. Assistant Director of Housing & Residence Life.

• Halls will be closed for the break starting at 5:00pm on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009.

• Halls will be closed for graduating seniors at noon on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009.

• Halls will reopen for students on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at 9am

• Students who will not be returning back to UNCG for Spring 2010 are asked to stop by the Housing & Residence Life office (located in Ragsdale/Mendenhall Residence Hall) by December 1, 2009 and complete a Housing Cancellation Form.

Closing Check List

The last resident to leave your room needs to make sure the following is done and cleared by Residence Life Staff before leaving:
             

• All windows are closed and locked.

• Refrigerators are unplugged, cleaned out, & defrosted.

• All electrical devices are unplugged and are off the floor.

• All valuables are up off the floor and placed in a safe place.

• Please have a clear path to your air unit for FIXT who will be cleaning/changing filters over break.

• Please dispose of all trash from your room.

• All aquatic life is taken home with you.

• Blinds are left open or raised (except on ground level rooms).

• All lights are turned off.

• Temperature controls are set to Low (50o/55o)

• Room doors are locked.

Break Housing Information

Winter Break housing is only available for students currently living in Spring Garden Apartments or Tower Village. We are not able to accommodate requests for break housing from students residing in halls other than Spring Garden or Tower Village at this time.

The Winter Break Period for 2009 will begin 5:00pm December 17, 2009 and will end 9:00am January 13, 2010. The charge for winter break housing will be $540.00, billed directly to your student account. This is an all-inclusive charge and is not pro-rated based on the number of days you stay in your room over the break (for example, if you only stay 2 days over the break vs. someone who stays the entire break period, you both will pay $540.00).

All University and Housing & Residence Life rules, regulations, and policies will be in effect over the Winter Break period.

Requests for Winter Break Housing must be received by Noon December 8, 2009. Any requests to cancel a winter break housing request must be submitted by email to hrl@uncg.edu and received by no later than Noon, December 8, 2009. No requests to cancel winter break housing will be processed after Noon on December 8, 2009 and winter break housing charges will remain on your student account.
