UNCG's Residence Halls
Who is housed where?
Where a student is housed depends upon the classification of the student (FR, SO, JR, SR, Graduate), and whether a student chooses to live in a Learning Community. Learning Community links and residence hall assignments are available here.
Should a student not choose to join a learning community, the following list indicates where students are housed based on their class year:
|Freshman Halls||Upperclass Halls SO, JR, SR|
|Grogan-Being renovated in 2014-15||The Quad|
|Phillips/Hawkins||Spring Garden Apartments|
|Weil/Winfield||Lofts on Lee|
It's easy to feel connected.
Students who live at UNCG are immersed in a diverse and inclusive campus environment where they interact with different kinds of people who offer unique perspectives. They are given more opportunities to form friendships, to attend campus events, to easily access faculty and other support services on campus, and to have an improved likelihood of academic success. Campus housing provides students with many benefits that they may not find in off-campus housing, many of which are listed here.
UNCG has many different living situations to meet the needs of students who wish to live on campus. The Office of Housing and Residence Life provides students with as much information as possible to help them feel well-educated in making the important decision about where to live.
The residence hall designs can best be described as traditional-style, suites, or apartments.
- Traditional-style residence halls:
These halls are perfect for new, first-year students to make connections with other freshmen who are just embarking on their college career. This style of housing is also the most affordable of all of the housing options. The building layouts offer double-occupancy rooms located on both sides of a long corridor with community bathrooms that serve the floor.
As students become familiar the college life, they begin to prefer more spacious, contemporary accomodations and more privacy, with the easy access to campus services, the support of staff and the security campus housing provides. Although suites vary in their specific amenities, residents enjoy semi-private bathrooms, beautiful common areas, and outstanding amenities.
The apartments offer the independence that upperclassmen generally prefer, along with the benefits and convenience that come with living on campus. Students have the opportunity to easily join in UNCG activities or to step away to enjoy their privacy. Apartment residents pay only for August-May on their university accounts and get to avoid deposits, surprise charges. They can also stay for holidays, fall and spring semester breaks.
