- LIVING ON CAMPUS
Why Live on Campus? To Get Countless Benefits!
We do everything we can to support your student experience; by promoting academic excellence, leadership development, and celebrating university traditions. Upon your arrival you will be joining a dynamic community, interacting with many people, and learning not only curricular subjects but learning about your own strengths, opportunities, and identity. Our goal is to provide resources and support but your involvement is what will make the on-campus experience truly rewarding.
Following are just a few of the many benefits of living on campus:

- According to research, on-campus students do better academically than their peers who live off-campus.
- Nationally, as well as at UNCG, students who live on campus persist in school and have a higher graduation rate than those who do not.
- On-campus students find it easier to take advantage of academic assistance services and also get increased motivation by working alongside their peers.

- Residence halls are locked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Residents are issued an access key fob granting them entrance to their residence hall.
- Guests and visitors must be escorted at all times.
- Exterior entrances to halls are checked nightly by Security Officers.
- Staff rounds of exterior doors and building interiors are made on a regular basis.
- Safety Awareness Programs and evacuation drills occur each semester.

- Students are within walking distance of classrooms, Jackson Library, Elliott University Center, food locations, and recreational facilities.

- Living on campus is often more economical than living off campus. There is no worry about monthly bills - students pay only once a semester!
- Services such as high-speed internet, cable (including HBO and Showtime), water, and electricity are included in this total cost.

- Caring, trained, and professional staff care about each student's experience at UNCG.
- Staff also provide resources, support, and programming to enhance the student experience.

- Students are educated on ways to volunteer in the local community.
- Students learn problem-solving skills and sustainable practices to follow as they are encouraged to take personal responsibility for their community.

- On-campus students get the opportunity to interact on a deeper level with a diverse group of their peers, forming friendships and memories that last a lifetime.
- Ample leadership opportunities exist on campus to allow for students to bolster their resumes beginning in their freshman year.
- Hall Council is the first group on campus to allow freshmen to hold executive positions.
- The Residence Hall Association (RHA) allows students have a voice in the policies and issues that affect them.
- National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is designed to give local, regional, and national recognition to students making outstanding contributions to their residence halls.
