1) Who can be a part of this program? The program is open to any first-year residential student.
2) Where do they live? They would live in Reynolds Residence Hall.
3) Is there a particular course connected with the program? There is currently no required course, however, students are strongly encouraged to take University Studies 101. There will be three sections of UNS 101 specifically for FYE students.
4) Will the UNS 101 course fulfill my General Education requirements? This 1 credit course will fulfill an elective credit requirement. Students will be asked to take some form of elective credits. Check out the UNS 101 website for more information.
5) Is this program only open to specific majors? No, this program is open to all majors, particularly students who are undecided.
6) How many students are a part of the program? There are 90 open spots.
7) Is there an application deadline? The deadline for FYE application is June 29, 2009
8) What is the selection process? The student will need to submit BOTH a housing application and complete the FYE application. Once both materials have been submitted, the Coordinator for Residential Learning will review the applications and notify the recipients beginning the first of April.
9) When will I find out my placement? Once you have returned your FYE confirmation card and paid your Housing deposit, an assignment will be made. You can find your placement in UNCGenie (under Personal Information and View Housing Assignment).
