Residential students will receive an email from Housing & Residence Life indicating the number of earned credit hours as of Fall 2008 and outlining the basic procedures for Room Change, including when the student should come to Jarrell Hall on December 9 if he/she is wanting to move to another residence hall.

Students wishing to make a room change within their current residence hall will meet with their Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator for Residence Life & Student Learning at the posted designated times he/she has established.

December 2 - December 4, 2008 |
Current students with an anticipated vacancy in their room for Spring 2009 because of a roommate graduating, transferring, or withdrawing from UNCG, may submit a request for a roommate of their choosing to move into the vacancy for Spring 2009. The roommate leaving UNCG for Spring 2009 will need to cancel his/her housing assignment online (http://hrl.uncg.edu/apps/cancellation.php) with Housing & Residence Life by December 1, 2009 in order for a requested roommate preference to be valid. The preferred roommate must have an active housing application in order to be considered. Please email the individual’s full name, University ID#, and the room he/she will be moving from and into to hrl@uncg.edu. The student moving into the vacancy will need to come to Room Change on December 9, 2008 to claim the requested space. Housing & Residence Life will place a hold on the space until the student comes to Room Change to claim the space. If the space is not claimed by Noon on December 9, 2008, the space will be released and will be assigned to a new incoming student for the Spring 2009 semester. |
December 9, 2008 |
Students wishing to move to another residence hall will come to Jarrell Hall, located in the basement of Jackson Library, between 9:00am-12 Noon according to timeframe that corresponds to earned credit hours, as stated in the email from Housing & Residence Life. Students should not come earlier than their established timeframe. Students must print out the email sent to their UNCG account by Housing & Residence Life in order to participate in the Room Change Process. |
December 9, 2008 |

If a student is unable to completely move into his/her new assignment, he/she will need to take all belongings home for Winter Break and complete the move into the new assignment in January 2009. |

If you choose to wait before entering the line to select a room, you may wait in the holding area in Jarrell Hall until you choose to receive a number and enter the line to select a room. You may also choose to wait in the holding area after choosing a new room assignment if you would like to see if a room opens up in another hall you originally wanted. You will have to once again receive a number and go through the selection line in order to select the new room.
It is Housing & Residence Life's goal to make this room change process as smooth and efficient as possible. Upon entering Jarrell Hall, you will present your printed email receipt to the staff person at the main entrance. You will then receive a selection number and be directed to sit in the auditorium. Tables designated by halls and staffed by Housing & Residence Life personnel will be set up on stage in Jarrell Hall to assist you in choosing your new room assignment. In addition, those waiting to select a room will be able to see what rooms are available to choose from via data projector and computer station where a staff member will be updating available rooms and projecting it on the overhead screen. When your number is called, you will then be directed onto the stage to the table of the hall where you would like to be reassigned. After briefly completing some paperwork, you will be able to leave with a new room assignment in hand and able to make preparations to begin moving into your new assignment before Winter Break begins.
