Spring 2024 Housing Information

If you wish to apply for Spring 2024 Housing, you must come in person to the HRL Main Office (located in Ragsdale-Mendenhall). The office will be accepting applications from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday. Be prepared to make a $200 prepayment and receive an assignment during your time in the office.

Fall 2024 Housing Information

The Housing Application for incoming first year students opened on February 1, 2024. We strongly encouraged students to fill out the FAFSA by March 1, 2024 to meet UNCG’s priority filing date. Filing by the priority date gives the best access to the maximum aid available.

*Please note: Those applying between February 1- March 22 at noon will randomly be assigned a start time to pick a room and emailed this time on March 25. In other words, everyone completing the application during this time frame will have an equal chance at being assigned one of the first time slots.
  1. Check Out Special Interest Housing
    • There may be extra steps if you choose to participate in Special Interest Housing
  2. View the Traditional Residence Halls
    • First Year Students will be in double occupancy rooms located in the Traditional Residence halls.
    • Be ready to choose which halls you want to look for during the self assign process
  3. Activate Your iSpartan Email Account
    • Before you Apply for housing, you must activate your iSpartan Email Account
      • Go to https://myaccount.uncg.edu and log in with the username (username@uncg.edu) and temporary password you received in your notification email.
      • Set a new password.
      • Provide a non-UNCG email address.
      • Choose and answer five security questions for password recovery. The answers to the questions are CASE SENSITIVE. For added security, the answers are not viewable by 6TECH staff.
      • Note: It takes two business days after you confirm your admission to UNCG, to be able to set up your iSpartan account in order to access Artemis.
    • If you are unable to claim your account, contact the Office of the Registrar at 336.334.5946. To verify everything is working correctly, log into your UNCG email account. The application can be completed using most internet browsers on both Mac and Windows PC. Accepted browsers include: IE 9 or older, Safari, Firefox, Google Chrome.
  4. Read the Housing Contract
    • Prepare for completing your housing contract. The Housing Contract is a legally binding document. Please read it carefully, as you are responsible for fulfilling the terms of the contract.
  5. Test Your Access for Artemis
    • You can test that your iSpartan account works ahead of time in Artemis, but you will not be able to complete an application until the application period begins.
    • Parent/Legal Guardian Approval: If a student is not 18 years of age at the time the online Housing Application is submitted, a parent or legal guardian will need to agree with the conditions and terms of the Housing Contract. Instructions for this step are available in ARTEMIS.
  6. *Optional* Find a Roommate
    • Visit our Roommate Finder Website to gain access to the Canvas Course.
    • If you find a roommate, make sure you have their Spartan ID number and create a 4 digit Roommate Pin that you will both enter when you fill out your housing application

  2. Log into ARTEMIS to begin your housing application.
  3. Click on “Apply for Housing”
    • Make sure you complete all steps of the application
  4. *Optional* If you have a roommate, you will be prompted to enter a roommate pin, this is chosen and entered by both roommates during the application. If you do not have a roommate, you may skip this step.
  5. Read and Acknowledge the Housing Contract
  6. Pay your $200 Prepayment
    • If you have an SAI of $1000 or less on your 2024-25 FAFSA application, this fee is waived.
    • Due to the delays of the 24-25 FAFSA, housing may not have prepayment waiver information available until late February. You can still apply before this date and once HRL is given SAI information from financial aid, we will automatically upload this information to your portal. Please note: your housing application is not complete until a prepayment is received or waived.

Once you have completed your housing application and paid your $200 prepayment, you will be able to choose your assignment when the self assign period begins. If the Self Assign period is open, you will be able to self assign 2 business days after completing the $200 prepayment.

We will be hosting a New First Year Students, Transfer Students and Off-Campus Students Info Session on February 1, 2024 from 4:30pm-5:00pm via Microsoft Teams. We will have time for questions at the end of this session.

Assigning to a Room

  1. View the How to Individually Self Assign Video
  2. Log into ARTEMIS
  3. Click on “Individual Self Assign”
  4. Use arrows to look through the bed spaces available
  5. Once you have found the space you want, click next to the room where it says “lock space”
  6. Select the default meal plan
    • You will be sent more information about changing your selected meal plan at a later time.
  7. CLICK FINISH
    • Your selection will not be completed until you press finish

You can make sure your selection was processed by clicking “Find my Assignment” on the Artemis Homepage. This is also where you can view Roommate information.

  2. Log into ARTEMIS
  3. Click on “Groups of 2”
  4. Search for your Roommate by inputting their ID and Name
  5. Select your roommate and input your group pin
  6. Use arrows to look through the bed spaces available
  7. Once you have found the spaces you want, click next to the room where it says “lock space”
  8. Assign each student to each bedspace
  9. Select the default meal plan
    • You will be sent more information about changing your selected meal plan at a later time.
  10. CLICK FINISH
    • Your selection will not be completed until you press finish

You can make sure your selection was processed by clicking “Find my Assignment” on the Artemis Homepage. This is also where you can view Roommate information.

New First Year Student Housing Applicant FAQ

In general, Feb. 1-May 31, but visit this page frequently for updates. When you are ready to apply use Artemis to begin your application.

The best way to find roommates or friends is to start with the Roommate Finder.

Once you have assigned yourself to a room or been assigned you can log into Artemis and click “View my Assignment.” This will show you your assignment and your roommate’s name and UNCG email.

On the first year housing application, there is the option to add a group pin. During the application each roommate will need to input a decided on 4 digit pin. When the students go back into Artemis to assign to a room, they will need their roommates student id number and the roommate pin. If you find a roommate after completing the applications, you can log into Artemis and click on the “Group Pin” button to add or change your pin.

You must wait one day between the time you activate your iSpartan account and the time you start the housing application. Thanks for your patience.

Yes. Upperclassmen and first year roommate pairs will be able to be assigned by the first year student. The group must live in a traditional hall.

Students are able to assign themselves to a room. If a student chooses not to self assign, they will receive a housing assignment by July, unless accepted into a living-learning communities. Living-learning community housing assignments are generally made before July.

Each hall varies with regard to what the amenities available in each common area, check out the Residence Halls and find your particular hall.

No, currently UNCG does not allow students to build lofts in any residence hall on campus.

Yes, the microwave and refrigerator must meet specific size requirements. Microwaves less than 800 watts are permitted. Refrigerators cannot exceed 3.5 cubic feet.

It is recommended that students rent or purchase a MicroFridge from the Residence Hall Association. Visit the MicroFridge page to learn more.

First year halls are traditional-style housing, with rooms located along a long corridor with community bathrooms. These bathrooms will be cleaned and toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels will be supplied.

Yes. All residence halls at UNCG are equipped with wireless internet in community spaces, common areas, and bedrooms.

Most will be extra-long twin beds check your residence hall page to view the furniture details.

There are conveniently located laundry rooms in every residence hall all of which operate free of charge. See the Residence Halls website to see locations of laundry rooms in each building. All washing machines and dryers in the residence halls operate free of charge.

All residents will be required to complete a roommate agreement with a roommate or roommates. The roommate agreement form, located on Artemis, gives you an opportunity to set general expectations for your living environment while exploring visitation, cleaning responsibilities, use of personal property, and personal habits of everyone in your room, suite, or apartment.
