Summer 2026 Dates

The Office of Housing and Residence Life is pleased to offer intern housing in 2026. Participants must be current college students, aged 18 years or older, and be participating in a summer internship or a supervised research program. Interns will stay in an apartment style building.

Intern Housing will be available from Friday, May 15 – Saturday, August 1

Rates

The cost for summer internship housing is $2,450, including a non-refundable $250 application fee.. This price includes a mandatory background check, a parking permit, a Kaplan Wellness Center membership, and a 2-bedroom apartment with an apartment mate. Every student will have the ability to request a roommate on the summer intern housing application.

Beginning February 27, 2026 interns may initiate the process to secure summer housing. We are pleased to be able to offer this service to the Greensboro area. The priority application deadline is April 30, 2026. All completed applications received prior to this deadline are guaranteed to be offered a space. Any applications submitted after the priority period will be placed on a waiting list and offered a space on a first come first served basis.

Non-Sponsored vs. Company-Sponsored Interns

Non-Sponsored Interns are interns who are paying UNCG Housing directly for their housing accommodation and are required to submit a non-refundable $250 application fee at the time of their application. The total cost for housing per intern $2,450.

There are 4 steps to every intern application: The Intern Housing Application, Application Fee Payment, a mandatory Background Check, and a Dean’s Certification Form.

    • UNCG requires a background check be done for all employees and non-employee affiliates. This will be completed based on information provided in the intern housing application.
  • Step 4: Complete the Dean’s Certification Form
    • This form should be sent and completed by your current college or university dean. The student ID that is requested on the form is your ID at your college or university.

Once the background check is received, HRL will establish the intern as an affiliate of the University. After your account has been set up, you should receive an email with your UNCG information and a temporary password to use to initially log into your new account.

Claim your account by following these steps:

  1. Go to https://myaccount.uncg.edu and log in with the username (username@uncg.edu) and temporary password you received in your notification email.
  2. Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) using your phone number or the Microsoft Authenticator App.
  3. Provide a non-UNCG email address.
  4. Set a new password. See Choose a Strong Password for tips.

If you are unable to claim your account, contact Human Resources at 336.334.5009. To verify everything is working correctly, log into your UNCG email account. Once you have done that, you will be able to make your payment May 1, 2026.

The deadline to make a payment is May 15.

Non-Sponsored

Interns will submit a non-refundable $250 application fee at the time of their application. The application fee is non-refundable. The University will not consider any Application that is not accompanied by full payment of the application fee.

Application fee payments can be paid using the button below. When submitting your payment, under shipping information, you will need to provide the full name of the intern participating in the program.

The $2,200 payment will open on May 1, 2026. Payments must be paid in a singular payment, in full. No payment plans are offered.Full payment is required before moving in.

Payments may be made online using a credit card, or by check. Payments are NOT refundable and must be made prior to arrival. Checks should be made payable to UNCG:

Company-Sponsored Payments

Companies are eligible for submitting bulk payments on behalf of all interns. Company-Sponsored interns only may avoid the $250 application fee. Payments must be paid in a singular payment, in full. No payment plans are offered.Full payment is required before moving in. Bulk payments must be paid in full by April 15, 2026.

To submit a corporate bulk payment, please contact hrlconference@uncg.edu with the number of guaranteed interns. A link will be created for you to submit your bulk payment.

As campus interns, you agree to abide by university and housing policies. Failure to adhere to these policies may result in the termination of your housing assignment. Area intern program payments are nonrefundable.

Living in a residence hall gives you a unique opportunity to meet and live with a variety of people from different cultures. You are provided with unlimited access to learn and grow in a safe and secure environment. In order to accomplish this, the following policies and procedures have been implemented:

UNCG Housing Policies & Procedures

  • All UNCG buildings are non-smoking.
  • The key to the apartment opens the entry door and a particular room within the apartment.
  • A $150 charge will be assessed for a lost key.

Recreation and Wellness (RecWell) guidelines have been developed to provide a safe environment for all individuals. RecWell staff are available to answer questions, provide assistance, and to ensure that guidelines and procedures are applied appropriately. We ask all individuals to comply with these guidelines and to understand that RecWell staff have the final say regarding interpretation and enforcement. Transportation

UNCG offers various forms of transportation including UNCG parking permits, campus shuttles, access to Greensboro Transportation Agency’s (GTA) and Higher Education Access Transit (HEAT) buses, and Piedmont Authority Transportation (PART).

UNCG parking permits are included in the program rate which is provided upon your arrival.

GTA and HEAT buses are also FREE with your Spartan Card which is provided upon your arrival.

PART serves UNCG’s campuses with two different routes. Students receive a 50% discount off PART fares.

After Applying

Prior to arrival

UNCG Account

Students must receive an affiliated student account. After completing a background check, interns will receive an email with their UNCG Spartan ID. Using that information, interns will create their UNCG email account. Questions about setting up an account should be directed to UNCG 6-Tech.

Spartan Card

After creating your account, interns will need to submit a picture of themselves to the Spartan Card Center prior to arrival.

Please note, information regarding the progress of your Spartan Card will be sent to your UNCG email address, not your personal email. Once your card is ready to be picked up, an email will be sent to you that it has been approved. HRL staff will retrieve your Spartan Card on your behalf, and it will be issued to you on your chosen move-in date.

Should your photo not be accepted, you will receive an email from the Spartan Card Center explaining why it was rejected and instructions to submit another photo.

Parking Permit

Students who bring a car will need to submit a parking pass form to reserve a parking pass. Summer School Parking Registration When completing the form, interns will need to select parking pass “B” and “Both Sessions”.

Intern Apartments

Following check-in, interns will be directed to either Lexington Residence Hall based on their room assignment. Bedrooms are furnished. The beds are XL full size beds. Queen sheets are recommended. Campus Map.

Intern Parking

Interns are permitted to use any lots marked B, VB or C on the map. Permits are not valid in the 2-hour lot directly behind McCormick Residence Hall or the faculty/staff “A” lot behind Lexington Residence Hall. The areas marked with the blue bubble and “VB” on the map are allowed in the Spartan Village area (not including metered spaces, reserved spaces, or handicap spaces, unless you have a handicap placard issued in your name and displayed).

Intern Mail

Your mailing address will be the in the format found on our website.

Mail can be retrieved from the Spartan Mail Center (UNCG Dining Hall), Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm.

If picking up mail outside of normal business hours, contact hrlconference@uncg.edu to receive further instructions. Our staff will pick up packages and deliver them to McCormick Residence Hall on your behalf

Faq’s summer Housing for area INTERNS

In the summer of 2023 We had 110 interns on-campus.  We had about 300 summer session student and a number of different conferences ranging in sizes.

There are no summer dining plans. There are dining options open during the day. To view dining options and hours of operation, please visit the Spartan Dining Website.

Yes, the campus is open for summer operations. Some hours may be limited due to the decreased student population. Please visit each facilities website to see the hours of operation.

No, the rate is per person and you will be assigned an apartment mate. However, you do have the option to pick your roommate if you know of someone else who will be participating in Summer Intern Housing.

You have the option to pick your roommate, if you know of someone else who will be participating in Summer Intern Housing. We try to pair students together who are interning with the same company or similar internships.

Interns are offered parking permits which are included in the intern housing rate. Our campus also offers Nova CHARGE stations for electric vehicles. Six new stations have been added behind our McCormick Residence Hall.
