2024-25 New Resident Advisor

Housing and Residence Life is seeking strong candidates to join our Resident Advisor team for the 2024-2025 Academic Year! The Resident Advisor (RA) position is the principal student leadership position within the residence halls at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Resident Advisors are selected on the basis of their potential and ability to provide leadership and service to students living in the halls. The position requires Resident Advisors to provide maximum availability to on-campus students. Resident Advisor responsibilities are often non-scheduled, spontaneous, and determined by the needs and expectations of the students within a community. As a part of the Resident Advisor experience, our student staff members will develop skills to become global leaders, resilient humans, critical thinkers, and community builders.

Requirements Include:

  • A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Not on any active conduct standing (e.g. warning, probation, etc.) as of the start of the Spring 2024 semester
  • No previous experience as a Resident Advisor
  • Previous experience living on campus

Application Process

Complete Applications (Application Form, Individual Video Interview, AND Video Interview Submission) are due by 11:59 pm on Monday, January 15th, 2024.

We require a complete application to be considered for an RA position. We recommend that you set aside 15-20 minutes to complete the application in one sitting. The application is completed via Qualtrics and can be found below.

As part of your application, you are required to attend one New RA Information Session. The Information Sessions will start the week of October 15th.

  • We require an individual video interview. The process is run through Big Interview via Career Services at UNCG. Once you have completed the video, please click submit. Once you have submitted, you should receive an email with a link to your video. That link must be submitted via the “Submitting Individual Video Interview Link” below. In order to access the video interview prompt, please:
    • Log-in with your UNCG username and password.
    • If you have not already, you will be prompted to enter your demographics.
    • Click on: Assignments.
    • Enter Assignment Code:6ed1bb
    • Click on: I’m Ready!
    • Click on: Allow to let Big Interview use your Camera & Microphone
    • Click on: Done & Practice without Eye Tracking
    • Follow the prompts on the screen to answer the questions.
    • Once you have completed your recording and submitted your video, please be sure to submit your individual video interview link!

After completing your individual video interview via BigInterview, please utilize the link below to submit your video.

2024-25 Returning Resident Advisor

The position requires Resident Advisors to provide maximum availability to on-campus students. The Returning RA Application must be completed by everyone, regardless of their want to return. If you are not returning, you will be asked a different set of questions than those who are returning. The application closes Friday, January 5th at 11:59 PM.

The Student Staff Recruitment and Selection Committee will also be hosting an Info Session for everyone who wishes to return on Friday, December 15th at 11 AM via Teams. This will be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and be given some insight as to what our Pro Staff team will be looking for throughout the application process.

We require a complete application to be reconsidered for an RA position. We recommend that you set aside 15-20 minutes to complete the application in one sitting.

Applicants will be given 10 minutes to present LIVE to a panel of 3 HRL Professional Staff members via Teams. The panel presentation will be recorded. You do not have to take up the full 10 minutes, but will be cut off at the 10 minute mark. This needs to be in a presentation format. Your presentation should address the following: 

  • What is one initiative you used this past year to build your community? 
  • How would you implement this into each style of community?
    • Traditional 
    • Suites 
    • Apartments 

After your presentation, our Professional Staff team will take about 5 minutes to ask some questions. Some specific questions you can expect are: 

  • What is one example of the best work you have done as an RA? 
  • Why do you believe it is the best work you have done as an RA?

If you are not returning to the RA position, you must submit the application AND a Letter of Resignation to your Supervisor by January 6th at 11:59 PM. Please list your last day as Wednesday, May 8th 2024. This will ensure you receive your entire compensation amount without interruption.

Resident Relations Associate

The Resident Relations Associate is a front-line member of the Housing and Residence Life team. This position requires that the student employee be willing to work during the academic breaks and summers when the HRL office remains open. Open to all UNCG students. Preference will be given to students with Federal Work Study financial aid. Preference may also be given to students who currently live in HRL housing or have lived on campus in the past.
