Housing Events
Every fall semester, there are multiple annual events to welcome students to campus. Most of them are combined into one large celebration called Rawkin’ Welcome Week. After that, individual offices publicize their events separately. The HRL-sponsored programs and events occur each year and involve many members of the UNCG community. Brief descriptions are available, so you can decide what looks interesting.
Best Dressed Room Contest
Accepting entries from August 13 – September 21 at 11:59 p.m.
This year marks the 17th year that the Office of Housing and Residence Life will sponsor the Best Dressed Room Contest, a competitive tradition at UNCG. All students living on campus can participate in this room-decorating event. All you have to do is deck out your room, grab your camera, phone, or tablet and take pictures of your room. Choose your favorite three shots, and upload them (along with the entry form) for the first round of judging.
House Calls
House Calls is sponsored by Housing and Residence Life on Monday, August 25, 5:30 p.m-7:30 p.m., and provides an opportunity for first year students to interact with UNCG faculty, administrators, and staff on a personal level. Faculty and staff volunteers visit new first-year students in their rooms to personally welcome you to UNCG.
They provide valuable information about UNCG programs and services and help to ease the transition of first-year students to the University experience.

Come on out and join fellow Spartans as they engage with Music and Traditions! Come enjoy a night of food, fun and games! It’s the perfect way to decompress after the first week of classes!
