New Resident Advisor
Housing and Residence Life is seeking strong candidates to join our Resident Advisor team for the 2026-2027 Academic Year! Resident Advisors are selected on the basis of their potential and ability to provide leadership and service to students living in the halls. The position requires Resident Advisors to provide maximum availability to on-campus students. Resident Advisor responsibilities are often non-scheduled, spontaneous, and determined by the needs and expectations of the students within a community. As a part of the Resident Advisor experience, our student staff members will develop skills to become resilient humans, critical thinkers, and community builders.
Requirements at a Glance:
- A minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA
- Not on any active conduct standing (e.g. warning, probation, etc.) as of the start of the Fall 2026 semester
- Previous experience living on campus is required, though please note it does not have to have been on UNCG’s campus. If you’re a transfer student and lived on campus at another school, that works too!
All application materials are due December 21st, at 11:59pm! A completed application consists of all three parts.
Ready to complete the first part of your application?
A completed application consists of three parts:

Returner Resident Advisor
Are you currently (or have you previously been) a Resident Advisor here in Housing and wanting to apply to return to the position for another year? The application is open now!
Steps to Apply
Step 1
Head to RoomPact for the questionnaire application.
This will close at 11:59pm on December 3rd
Step 2
Start working on your recorded interview– Applicants will, in their own time, record a 10-minute presentation answering questions about their previous RA experience and reflecting on what they anticipate another year in the position will look like. A presentation or visual representation is required.
Your presentation should address ONE of the following questions:
- Walk us through your sociogram and explain how you used what you learned about your residents to connect with them.
- Walk us through a program/initiative you’ve planned and executed.
- Walk us through a time you helped a resident through an issue while you weren’t on call. What was the issue and what steps did you take to support the student(s) involved? How did you care for yourself following this issue?
- Walk us through an on-call/crisis situation you have handled. What was the situation and what steps did you take to support the student(s) involved? How did you care for yourself following this situation?
Additionally, we ask that you address the following reflection questions:
- Reflect on everything you’ve talked about. What have you learned from these situations that has/will help make you a stronger RA? (this question is required for all)
- If you are applying as a future 2nd year RA, you will answer: How do you plan to mentor first-year RAs? How will you use what you’ve learned in your time as an RA to help the incoming staff members that we hire?
If you are applying as a future 3rd year (+) RA, you will answer: if you had to implement an initiative to support first- and second-year RAs, what would you do and how would you carry it out?
Once you’ve completed your video, you’ll upload an accessible link to the Dropbox.
