Timothy Johnson, J.D., Director, Housing and Residence Life
Tim Johnson joined the UNCG Housing and Residence Life Staff in 2011. Tim holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from the University of Dayton and a Juris Doctorate from the Rutgers University School of Law at Newark. He has spent more than 25 years in service to students throughout the country. He served as a Resident Director at University of Wisconsin-Steven Point, Area Coordinator/Assistant Director of Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, Assistant Director for Residential Life at Temple University, and most recently served as the Associate Dean for Housing and Residence Life at Rutgers University-Newark. In addition to his work as a housing professional, Tim is also the founding partner of Reslife.net, which now serves over 200 Universities around the world including, US, Australia, South Africa, and Singapore. Tim has stayed active over the years within our most esteemed professional organizations. He has served as President of the Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers (MACUHO), and also served on the Executive Board and most recently served as Program Chair for the Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHO-I) conference. His professional interests include student rights, the history of higher education, and technology. His personal interests include history, music, and theater. Guy Sanders, Associate Director of Administrative Operations
Guy Sanders has been working in on campus housing since 1978. Guy came to UNCG in 1990 after serving in a variety of positions at UCLA including Coordinator of Academic Support Programs, Assistant Director for Staff Development and Judicial Affairs, and as a manager of one of 1984 Olympic Village areas. Guy earned a B.A. in Political Science/ History, an Elementary/High School Teaching Credential, and a M.A. in Education at UCLA. Guy is also a UNCG alum, having earned an MBA from the Bryan School. During his career, Guy has provided leadership in a variety of areas including alcohol education/prevention, promotion of diversity education and affirmative action, recruitment and retention, community service, emergency response, and the promotion and implementation of student technology.
Ed Keller, Associate Director of Operations
Ed came to UNCG in 2003 from a career that started in the US Navy where he served onboard a Guided Missile Destroyer. After a four year service term he was employed in the power generation industry for the next 17 years where he was the Maintenance Manager. He received an Associate in Applied Science degree in Mechanical Technology from Guilford Technical Community College in 2003 just prior to coming to the university. He has served as the Maintenance Supervisor for the Office of Housing and Residence Life and was promoted to Associate Director for Operations in 2006. Ed is dedicated to providing the best possible residential experience for UNCG students.
Charles Clency, Associate Director for Residence Life
Charles Clency most recently join our HRL team in July 2012, where he previously served as Assistant Director for Recruitment, Leadership and Programming at East Carolina University. He earned a Bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of Alabama and earn his Master degree in College Student Personnel Administration at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Residence Life and Housing has been his focus area in Student Affairs for 16 years because he has always admired the potential influence the residential environment could have on a college student’s personal, academic, and social development. His professional experiences allowed him to serve students at several different universities,such as the Univ of Alabama, Univ. of Miami, Notheastern Univ, etc. When he’s not at work, he enjoys spending time with family, watching a good movie, and attending different athletic events.
Missy Minyard, Business Manager
Missy works with the budget and purchase order process, and helps the department in the purchasing of needed supplies and equipment as well as serves as the main coordinator and auditor of all department budgets.
