Unique Housing Situations
Accessible Housing Accommodation (AHA)
If you need an accessible housing accommodation, here’s what you can find in the residence halls. In general, these rooms fall in two categories: Fully-Loaded Mobility Rooms and Rooms that offer services for deaf students. See more information below.
Note: We don’t have as many AHA needs as we have rooms with AHA features. If you find that you are assigned to an AHA room, but you don’t need these services, certain features will be there, but will not be active(i.e. strobes will never flash.)
UNCG will consider reasonable housing accommodations for disabled students. A student with a disability-related need for a modified housing assignment must follow this process:
- Submit the Request for Accessible Housing Accommodation Form, available during the housing application period.
- Provide sufficient documentation from a qualified professional addressing any physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, as well as your unique housing needs to the Office of Accessibility Resources & Services. This can be uploaded in the Welcome Form section of the OARS Portal, or the Student Files section, if the Welcome Form has already been submitted.
- Students requesting an Emotional Support Animal must follow this same process.
- Contact OARS at OARS@uncg.edu or 336.334.5440, to schedule a virtual or in-person consultation to discuss your needs.
The deadline for requesting modified housing accommodations is the same as the deadline for guaranteed housing. Modified housing needs are accommodated on a case-by-case basis, according to room availability, and must be requested to housing annually. Students requesting modified housing accommodations will be notified of the decision in writing.

International Student Housing
UNCG has a diverse international community that includes students and faculty from all across the globe. The location of the International House for 2024-2025 will be Tower Village. The International House is the perfect situation for students from other countries to be with others in the same situation, while meeting American students who also live there.
Students who want to live campus need to apply in ARTEMIS.
TEMPORARY (“TEMP”) ROOMS
Temporary rooms are converted community rooms in Phillips/Hawkins, Moore/Strong, Cone, Grogan, Reynolds and Weil-Winfield. Typically, four students are assigned together until a permanent room becomes available. The amount of time a student spends in a temporary room varies.
Following are photos of some typical common room layouts.
