Mary Foust Hall is the home of Ashby Residential College, which is an academic and social community for first- and second-year students that fosters an understanding of contemporary media literacies in civic and academic life. Founded in 1970, Ashby College is North Carolina’s oldest residential college and one of the oldest living-learning communities in the country.
With courses fulfilling UNCG’s General Education Curriculum, creative leadership and social programs, and classrooms and faculty offices located in Mary Foust Hall, Ashby College provides an immersive environment for intellectual and social growth. From the student-designed Haunted House, to the Foust Stock music festival, Ashby College’s traditional programs provide opportunities for students to grow their leadership and creativity within a collaborative and supportive community.
Mary Foust is centrally located on “College Avenue,” an expansive pedestrian walkway that runs from North Drive to Spring Garden Street. Academic buildings, university dining, the Elliott University Center and the Jackson Library are all a short walk away.
Mary Foust has three floors of double-occupancy rooms in seven unique room configurations. Mary Foust residence hall offers unique architectural features, such as high ceilings, angled stairwells, and gabled windows overlooking a paved courtyard.
Mary Foust also has a large formal parlor on the first floor and a recently renovated kitchen and bathroom. Laundry facilities are available in the basement.
